The refined beauty, stamina and noble spirit of the Arabian horse has fascinated horse lovers the world over. The painting was inspired by the painting by John Federick Henning “Pharaoh’s Horses”, 1884. A print graced the walls of my grandparents’ farm house.
The Magee family migrated to Canada in the early 1800’s and owned and operated a farm in the Downsview region of Toronto. For centuries the horse and man shared the soil in Ireland as the Irish have an enduring love and understanding of the horse. From early childhood, my love and appreciation of horses and art are rooted in my Irish ancestry.
