Celebrating Alberta’s centennial the Calgary Stampede held their second horse drive from the Stampede Ranch northwest of Calgary to the rodeo grounds at the Stampede. Of all the major rodeos the Stampede is the only one that raises its own bucking horses. The Stampede’s registered brand is a “C” over an “S” that is applied to the left shoulder of its horses. The brand is jealously guarded.
